  1. I attendend the press confernce yesterday at Johnson C Smith and think that Dr. Carter ( The President) did a great job of explaining why the Streetcar will be a succesful cataylist for developing the Westside Corridor. He pointed out that the main reason that JCSU agreed to start growing outside of its gates was due to the promised streetcar. He futher stated that City Councilmembers that say that the development would not equal the cost are wrong. JCSU has already spent or in the process of investing 23 million to build along the streetcar line. The school has alrready completed building the Arts Factory, in the process of building new dorms, a cafeteria and new bookstore. I plan to attend the next City Council meeting and wish that other supporters will show up to show support. I have also seen that even though Family Dollar may not be a major project, they built a brand new store on Beattis Ford and hope that maybe the Food Lion will be renovated. There is oppritunity to transform the westside with the Streetcar as the catylist, but I think people need to be informed of its benifits.

  2. My wife and I went to the Knights Vs Braves last week. it was a great crowd that night complete with the crowd chanting "lets go Knights" in the 9th when the pitcher was trying to get the last 2 outs. It made me think how great it would be to have the stadium uptown. I would probably go to 10 or so games a years vs the 1 or 2 a go to in Fort Mill.

if the Knights were to continue the Fireworks on weekends, people would come uptown just for that. I would also go hangout even more if Old Mecklenburg Brewery moves the beer garden uptown with the team. I consider the Durham Bulls to be a rival of our Knights and think that it would draw a full house uptown when they play. I have gone to that game in Durham and always wished we could have as cool of a stadium as they have.

  3. Will the LED lights that are supposed to represent cars racing around the building be on every night or just on special occasions? I have been waiting to see them test the lights, but haven’t seen them turned on yet.

  4. How about a book store/mexican restaurant combo...... eh. fine.

I really wish that Epicenter could get a bookstore. I heard or read somewhere that bookstores want to have retail space that are larger than what epicenter have to offer. Maybe we could get a small independent bookstore like Malprops in Asheville to move there. I would be great if PJ's leased the spaces beside it and opened a bookstore.

  5. lol. that church (little rock AME) is definitely a generic suburban church from the 70s/80s... It is especially a shame because their original church was done by a renowned architect and is extremely attractive (now the AACC next door at 7th and Myers).

I have thought that furman should work out a deal with both the United House of Prayer and 9th/Davidson and with Little Rock AME at 7th/McDowell to purchase half their large lots. He could then build a parking deck and urban housing on his half, and include enough deck parking for the church to use... and with the proceeds, they could both build a larger urban-designed church that (hopefully) would be more attractive.

    Everyone would benefit, i believe.

someone should talk to us ( Little Rock Church), maybe there are some possibilities regarding parking deck.
