I believe CONSTRUCTION has started on the NEW Transit Facility at Arcadia Drive off of Rutherford. This will make way for new routes to begin (if they can employ bus drivers) and additional development next to Fluor Field!

Being able to staff is a huge problem for a lot of transit systems these days.  Here in Denver, RTD recently had to combine four rail lines into two because of staffing woes.  Staffing woes lead to service problems.  Service problems lead to ridership shortages.  Ridership shortages lead to more cutbacks.  It’s a vicious cycle.  RTD used to be a hallmark transit system that other cities looked to as an example and now it’s struggling horribly.

Wife & I trekked Main St. today (from one end to the other)…was surprising & amazing to see multitudes walking as well…on a Monday holiday in February!
I was  really disgusted (again) with the continued bad appearance of the exterior of a prominent structure. It’s pathetic an ugly exterior continues to be present on an otherwise very attractive Main St.564E9E32-425B-454A-BE27-C2AA94232F72.thumb.jpeg.1591f1aa60b63e6672552f90d4f126ee.jpeg

I’ve always thought this particular building was begging for a commissioned mural to be painted around it.  It’s a blank canvas.

you should buy it and change the facade then.

I know a guy who would be happy to broker that deal… 😂

This is a slightly different rendering than we saw in the past, looks like it is cutting a few corners, for cost purposes I'm sure. Looks quite a but more bland now than before. Oh well, guess it will fit in... :P

I don't suspect that to be the case at all.  I suspect they're merely trying to fit better with the look and feel of DTGVL.  Hello! :-P

I'm honestly surprised they were able to get enough room.

Where there's a will, there's a way.  If there's not enough room, just build it out over the water.  Look at what they've done in Tampa and Austin, for example.

The sunshades at the Piazza Bergamo have been hoisted.  They are still finalizing the construction details -

Wow...that's, er, uh, unique.  I want to like it, but I'm honestly not sure how I feel about it from just seeing the photos.  It just kinda clashes with everything around it.

I like this one ... kudos to whomever came up with this idea.

Whoa...I am not a fan of the lack of grass.  I had hoped there'd still be at least a few more living green things on this plaza to soften it.  It's all way too harsh.

  6. Why not just put a huge parking garage surrounded by/clad in ground-floor retail/restaurant and upper level apartment/condo on this site and then replace the surface parking around the Bi-Lo Center with more of the same (retail and restaurant space facing N. Church Street and the Bi-Lo Center both with low-rise apartment/condo above it)?  Just a thought.

Although not quite what the original plan called for, that does seem to fit right in with RiverPlace and the timeline is aggressive enough that I think it will get done before the US economy gets thrown into the crapper again by greedy fiscal and economic policy decisions.  That being said, I would still like to see another unique pedestrian bridge across that end of the Reedy connecting things back up with the Peace Center and closing the loop a bit.

  8. Spinx from what I hear. It was rumored at one time for a power shopping center to include Super Target but this was several years ago. I believe CAPLLC is the developer.

I could be wrong, but I think CAP, LLC has long since abandoned any plans they had for that large tract across from Publix...it sure would have been nice to see all of the rumored stores materialize there, though...the plans back then "hinted" at Target (not SuperTarget), Circuit City, and Whole Foods Market...I don't think the demographics in that area would have supported it though.
