Nashville was once in the running for a Polercoaster: https://www.tennessean.com/story/money/2016/06/30/nashville-makes-short-list-vertical-roller-coaster/86557074/ Sigh...

I really dig the curvilinear roofline and yes it reminds me of MCC.

They designated a place in the new terminal design should light rail eventually be built to the airport. There has never been any plan announced to actually propose and fund the construction of that infrastructure.
What I meant was I thought there was a monorail just to get around the airport and to the hotel etc. I remember a rendering showing the layout, but maybe I misunderstood the type of rail.

Whatever happened to the monorail I thought was included in this expansion? Please don't tell me it got cancelled.

They were probs just trying to hype everyone up with the B&M invert, however while an SLC is definitely a downgrade, it shows us that they are still interested in having thrilling rides at the park. https://www.instagram.com/tv/ChvD3i5s2S7/?igshid=YmMyMTA2M2Y=
Hope it's not the same Vekoma you can ride at Kentucky Kingdom. I think Hangman at Opryland (now at Six Flags Discovery Kingdom) is this model pictured or close. Please let it be something original and better like the newer Vekomas or a snappy B&M.

I stopped by today to grab a few photos of the new Donelson location of Edley’s BBQ, under construction at 2719 Lebanon Pike. According to a construction foreman type fellow, due to delays in delivery of the rooftop AC units, the opening will likely be near the end of September. The store has a few parking spots in the front, but most of the parking is at the rear of the building.
pic 1. Exterior front facing Lebanon Pike
pics 2 & 3. Dining room looking into the space through the open roll up doors
pic 4 & 5. Rear of the building with entry from parking lot and a small outdoor dining space
So excited for Edley's and the new Nicoletto's just over the hill to open in Donelson soon! Any other "non-chain" coming too?

yeah I just went to Dollywood for the first time, and I was amazed. It was definitely the best all round ThemePark I’ve ever visited it terms of rides, shows, food, service ect. They even gave our whole family the military discount, cause one of my family members is an Aussie veteran. If Storyville does get built, I’m pretty sure it would have a much more corporate feel, and I don’t know if it could top Dollywood at allAnd a lot of park enthusiasts are saying Dollywood's service/direction has really been off lately compared to 5-6 years ago. I hate that they removed the cave walk-through and just made a paved walkway. Hopefully something better comes of that! The fact that they built a new themed area called Wildwood Grove but completely bulldozed all the trees/foliage was a major head scratcher too.

Maybe they'll surprise us. Let's give it a chance. Yes, Dollywood is a nice park. Keep in mind, what we know it as today is not how DW started.
Truth! I remember my family visiting Dollywood when it was formerly known as Gold Rush Junction in the late late 60's/early 70's. As for attractions it only had a log flume ride and mad mouse coaster plus the historic train ride that used to seem to travel so far outside the park. Before that it was known as Rebel Railroad with just the train ride.
In addition to Opryland, Nashville at one time had Fair Park at the fairgrounds which had a medium size wooden coaster, Skyliner, in addition to other amusement rides:

Found this video on YouTube.
And this lady and gents is why we have the best fireworks display in nation. Plus the location is perfect.
34 minutes of awesomeness! Fast forward to 29 minutes
The finale is amazing.
Unbelievable! We watched on a high hill 17 miles away and it was still impressive that far away.

Super interesting stats and thank you for providing. I thought Houston was the 4th most populous USA metro, but now that is Dallas and Houston is 5th? Also, I thought Birmingham had slipped behind Huntsville in metro pop. stats.

Remember the amusement park that was planned for the East Bank by PCS? I always thought that was an odd proposal. I wish I could remember the name. I do remember that it had "opolis" in it. I think the closet we got to a roller coaster on the East Bank was Ghost Ballet.
That was Thrillopolis. Ed Hart of Kentucky Kingdom was involved: https://www.nashvillescene.com/news/the-thrill-opolis-is-gone/article_28ddb2ec-e83d-514c-bc60-7de3360dbf5a.html
How did I only just find this thread?! As a lifelong theme park junkie, I would love a more family oriented entertainment area along the east bank at least - rides, shows, shops, etc. With so many folks moving here as well as the convention business, I feel we need more entertainment options to offer. I suppose we will see what happens with Storyville Gardens.

Does anyone know if the cities still in the running for the FIFA Cup have enclosed stadiums with roofs or retractable roofs?

DuPont, one of the world's largest chemical conglomerates, is looking to sell it 370 site in Old hickory that has considerable shoreline along theCumberland River. They still have a few operations on the large tract, but much of it is empty now. It is currently zoned for industrial use.
More behind the Nashville Post paywall here:
https://www.nashvillepost.com/business/development/dupont-industrial-property-offered-for-sale/article_8e6f29fa-ec17-11ec-b94c-c37053fa9bd4.htmlHow many acres is that? Wonder if it might be big enough for Storyville Gardens.

Welcome to the forum, Markitecture! : )
Thank you! I've been perusing for a good half year and finally decided to join. I've lived in Nashville since '98, and the more recent construction changes are unreal. I love the site and updates in this forum!

I would prefer that were a view of Opryland U.S.A. theme park. Still sad about losing it.
