From East GRs e-newsletter, in the Mayors Corner:
“We have had very exciting news regarding Gaslight Village. Jade Pig, who redeveloped the old Jacobson's store and reignited the business district a dozen years ago, has announced they are preparing to develop the vacant property behind the parking ramp, and are projecting a $30 million investment. They see Gaslight Village as a huge success they want to build upon. The plans have not yet been brought to the City.”

Not sure of the University owns that building or was leasing?
It doesn't appear so. It's owned by 45 Ottawa Associates LLC, with a mailing address going to Rockford Constrution's 601 First St address.

Mission BBQ is opening on E Beltline north of Knapp, where Bagger Daves was.
I ate at the new City BBQ on 28th near woodland last week. Very good! But... what's with all the BBQ all of the sudden?

I think something like a Revel & Roll (Bowling/Arcade/Bar) would be great at this location. There probably isn't enough space for that though.
I just said this to my wife. Or a Lucky Strike. Seems like a real complimentary draw to a movie theater..

My first reaction is that's not the best location, but I'm not a real estate expert.
Ditto.

Panda Express is opening across from woodland mall where MC Sports used to be.

Well, you beat me to it, but I had my headline all planned:
This just in: Johnny Bz to get rid of worlds worst parking lot. Images from planning commission.

My church has been hosting families through IHN for almost two decades. Never heard of there being any kind of incident.
Ours does too. In a quiet SE side neighborhood. And I bet no one knows. 5 families or whatever our church hosts doesn’t equal 100, but I think people (on here) are way over reacting. There were maybe 4 letters of opposition and 20 or so support.

The Family Promise proposal was supported by the neighborhood association and was approved today.

Speaking of Wild Bunch - it looks like the City is looking to demolish the Wild Bunch building as they believe it is not salvageable and a risk to public safety. I'm really glad to hear this. They have prepared a presentation for the Historic Preservation Commission which I would have to believe shouldn't be an issue seeing as it is the city seeking this request.
Looks like they were successful, it's coming down today.

I probably asked this before but what ever happened to the townhouse plans?
They split and transferred the property at the back half of 2500 Burton (along Inverness) to Townhomes at Breton Village LLC a few weeks back [http://grdowntowncondos.com/townhomes_breton_village/]. So it seems like they're actually happening. I can't believe I forgot to post the renderings and floor plans - complete with roof deck over looking trash and loading docks. @x99 where you at?!

Starbucks is going in next to Sur La Table, the veterinary clinic is moving from Breton Village into a yet to be constructed building next to Fresh Thyme.

Res Life bought Sunshine property I believe.
Anyone know who ended up buying this after Res Life backed out? Seems like there's been movement here lately...

There's a lease pending sign in the space next to Sur La Table. It was designed for a drive-thru, so will be interesting to see what comes of it.

You know, I think it's the Fowling place that made all the waves 12 months ago. Their liquor license was finally approved in December of 2017 and it looks like they're finally hiring. I'm sure that's it.

Rumors abound about a new sports bar on 28th in Cascade? Anyone got the scoop?

Why would someone put a chocolate store in a retail store front that has failed two previous chocolate stores in the same amount of years? They have good ice cream too, but you know, Jersey Junction and all.

Interesting video. They took names off but there is a bit of a wink and a nudge to some of the retailers mentioned before. As Jeff pointed out, the facades are strikingly similar to some major retailers out there.
Joe
What's the status here anyway? Are they looking for retailers? Waiting for buildings to be done? 37 pages of discussion and I've lost track.

Why on earth would we need another DSW or Ulta or, why would they move so soon after setting up/renovating at Centerpointe?
-
I think Scott Wierda's comment was that they made a significant (seven figure) investment in the interior renovation of Breton Village and it didn't work out. He called it a bad investment. Demalling wasn't out of the question, but he didn't imply it was imminent either.

GVSU's original downtown campus is x99's architectural mecca then? #edgy

Condos in East are the longshot in that list?

I'm still not sure how my wife stumbled upon this, and I don't think there's been press on it, but apparently Madewell opens this month at Breton Village:
