Did they get rid of the Panthers' bubble practice facility? Can someone fill me in on what they're putting there instead?

So the Omni is going to block the view between the Capitol and Memorial? Not sure that's a good move. For a city with relatively few 'thats cool' items, the book ends of a Greek revival Capitol and a Classical revival performing arts center are among the best tandem building sets I can think of in the SE. Akin to the US Capitol and Lincoln Memorial tandem on a smaller and less renowned scale.
It's not going to block the view between these places, because this development is only taking up one of the two blocks. The other block will be developed later on.

Do we know yet what is going to replace this demolished building?

It's been exciting so far, but I can't wait to watch this one grow even more from across the street at my favorite restaurant in Durham - M Pocha!

That is Capital Square's 320 West South Street development, which will be a 20-story apartment building as seen in the snip below.

I agree with you. It'd just be nice to get dropped off right in the center of the city. When that happens, and I believe it will soon, the train experience will be amazing and I bet a lot more people will take the train instead of drive.

This is a very random question, but I may be taking a gameday (Panthers) train into Charlotte for the first time soon. Is walking from the train station into Uptown something that is generally done? Google says 38 min to the stadium, is this a fairly walkable stretch? Or if not, what are the other options? Ubering seems like an annoying solution.
This highlights the need for an Uptown station. The current station has such an awkward location. I wish there was a bridge over the rail yard to a Blue Line station.
I took the train from Raleigh to Charlotte for the Panthers vs Browns game on September 11th. From my experience, and I'm an avid walker, I will take an Uber from the Charlotte train station to the stadium next time. IMO it's not that it's too far of a walk. It's just an awkward one since the sidewalks in that area aren't very great!

Carolina Panthers
in Charlotte Coffee House

I'm not too bothered about Rock Hill plans falling through. While it would've been a top-notch facility, if it means a closer uptown location or keeping it in North Carolina, I'm cool with the delay. On another note, I'm excited Tepper's keeping preseason training in Charlotte instead of Wofford—makes my drive (or train ride) from Raleigh easier. I get I might be in the minority on this though...
