  1. Well, I don't think it's an official park operated by the Memphis Park Services. It's like Auction Square. It's a historic green space owned and maintained by the city.
  2. Good news, this was just a hypothetical plan, and Market Square is not part of the property being transferred to the Sheraton. https://dailymemphian.com/article/10882/memphis-history-sheraton-expansion
  3. There’s a new neighborhood being developed across Kanis from Chenal Downs. It’s been cleared and they’re doing the dirt work now. I’d bet the houses will be in the $350k+ range.
  4. Dave & Buster’s didn’t go away, because it never existed in LR until recently. There was a Buster’s Bar and a Cash McCool’s game parlor in Union Station. The owners of those two places opened up the first Dave & Busters in Dallas.
  5. Glad to see a space getting filled that has been vacant since it was built 20 years ago https://dailymemphian.com/section/neighborhoodsdowntown/article/10833/memphis-cigar-bar-havana-mix-loan-approved
  6. I hope he doesn’t go with the same design as the Home2Suites in Southaven. The interior is nice, but this would stand out like a sore thumb downtown. I think something like the second image would work much better.
  7. I thought of the 4th Bluff too, but thought that this green space would be appropriate too since it is on Winchester, with Jackson and Overton streets being a block to the North each. As far as the exterior of the Sheraton, I don't think they'd have to re-skin or paint the whole building, but if they did some brick accentuation to the top border, and then the borders on the 1st/2nd floors to match the convention center, it would make a big improvement.
  8. I don’t like it either. I’d hate to lose the green space that’s there, and I think the city should even improve it and make it a park. They could call it Founders’ Park and put up statues of Jackson, Winchester, and Overton. The Sheraton would be better off updating the interior and exterior. With Loew’s and new hotels going up in the Pinch, they need to make their hotel more appealing.
  9. In 2000, MEM was at 11,769,213 passengers, compared to the 4,644,490 last year. These numbers, including's Nashville's 18.3 million, include connecting passengers too. The reason for the Memphis decline was the merging of Northwest with Delta, causing Memphis to get "dehubbed." Now there's a lot less passengers connecting through Memphis. Memphis was previously ahead of Nashville, but in 2011, Nashville surpassed Memphis for passenger traffic, and has exploded since. They are not a hub for Southwest, but Southwest dominates BNA, accounting for 54% of Nashville passengers.
  10. My bad, it was the Maumelle mayor wanting Top Golf around the I-40/430 Interchange. I hope they can get one to come to town. Gateway Towne Center would be the ideal location.
  11. They should try to get Top Golf to go in on the other side of the movie theater. I remember the Mayor saying he would try to get Top Golf to come to Little Rock, but was mentioning it for around the I-40/430 interchange. I do not think that would be a good location. There's not much there, and Wild River Country is facing foreclosure. The Outlet Mall/Movie Theater/Bass Pro/Dave & Busters/Restaurants could all benefit from having another big draw to the development.
  12. Yes, very good that they are expanding their footprint and employers downtown. Hopefully other business will continue to do so. I remember when those ginkgo trees were planted. They are getting larger.
