I don't think it clashes. haha. I like it. No way it changes. Though I wish it was woodgrain, but that'd be far too 2019, and look dated in a few years.
You can thank millennials for the color choice I bet.

I still like the building, but the elevator shaft sticking up above the roof screen is really starting to bug me. Why not just make the core the same height all the way across or the screen around the top five feet taller to hide the core shaft?
Because they are cheap residential developers trying to be office developers.

As best as I can tell, this was produced as a purely speculative/marketing video, but it seemed neat anyway as a "what if" exercise. https://www.linkedin.com/feed/update/urn:li:activity:6532688948743979008
While there were some good ideas this site wouldn’t fit their program from what I can tell. I didn’t see any seats inside the practice field. Didn’t he want like 10,000? The pipe foundry site on the other-hand...

The response, 18 more? Getter done!

May I present the ACC Ally Charlotte Center and its new website ( I still like the Tryon Place name but I do get it)
https://www.allycharlottecenter.com/
76% preleased and most of the renderings we have all seen before but here they are in one place.
They do mention a place called Legacy across the street now LOL
Who writes this stuff?!
Ally Charlotte Center brings a new type of workplace to Uptown, designed to inspire world-class talent with a focus on connectivity, wellness, and creativity.
I’d say wework is a new type of workplace, not I work on the 13th floor of the Ally building.
‘Our mixed-use walkable community...’
Isn’t all of uptown walkable? Don’t we want people to venture away from ‘their blocks’?

^ All I'm saying is that if you give people parking, they will need it. If you don't, they'll find a way to get there--especially if it's for work.
If you don’t provide it they will look elsewhere.
If not uptown then anytown.
What makes a site so attractive it doesn’t matter how much parking there is? That’s the million dollar question.

How exactly are they getting service trucks into the deck? Do they go underground? Does Hill Street drop that much? Scratching my head.

A second rate blog? It gets 50k clicks a day, and has 140k followers on instagram, 40k on twitter, and the newsletter has like 45,000 subscribers.
Yes I agree its chain happy, which annoys the hell out of me, as a writer for them, but calling them second rate, when they are quickly growing and outpacing everyone in most metrics, is silly.
I give them props for filling the void creative loafing left behind in a digital world.
They market there pants off.
if your sending out 45,000 emails I would expect more clicks per day.
I personally like the guys on 1110 AM restaurant Tuesday in the evening. Or Dirty Restaurant Thursday! Hilarious and scary...

Those high powered LED lights need a few weeks to burn in at 100% power. Cool to see it turned on during a festival weekend. Wonder if that was planned?

New 11 story office building to be started next month in Ballantyne and along with an apartment tower of some size. First for new owners Northwood and Northwood Ravin is doing the apartments.
Very exciting!
Maybe this will start a Development trend of densifying the corporate park with true mixed use.

Very sad. The trade mark building on the other block near here, a furman project, was also eifis system. I remember the snow walking by that site too.
i can’t believe high rise buildings are allowed to use this stuff.

Where is the retail? I just see a patio to eat on lol
Retailers 90% of the time want to see the finished product before signing up for a lease. That is why you hardly ever hear a developer project announce a retail tenant first.

Gorgeous photo. Just not sure why it seems like LU2 hasn’t been making much progress lately. Hopefully not some kinda foundation issues...
Wet weather always slows downs building in the foundation stage. Once the first elevated slab is poured it’s off to the races.

How cool would a Mint St address be?
It’d be like printing money!

On the original DEC, tvsdesign did precast double tee construction, I've inquired with them whether this method will be followed again.
Didn’t the DT sit on a poured cast in place frame?
From Wiki;
The building was constructed by Batson-Cook Construction, with ready mix products from Concrete Supply Co. and structural engineering firm TRC International Ltd, of Sarasota, Florida. The building core is constructed with poured-in-place concrete while the floor structures utilize precast double tees, a structural method typically seen in parking decks. These double tees span between the poured-in-place core and perimeter systems. The concrete used for the building is 18,000 pounds per square inch.[8]

The only, non high-rise I see is 217 S. Tryon, which backs up to BB&T's parking deck. I don't think it will be the tallest, but I do think they will want it to front Tryon . So I would lean N. Tryon, over LU.
We need to start moving away from Tryon Street and grow our towers outward. BB&T might be our best shot at that.

I hope that this is at least 10 stories above ground when the RNC occurs next year. Is that potentially feasible?
Typical office floors pour 1 floor a week (assuming cast in place) avg at this size. The lower floors appear to be much larger.” though.

ATS (automatic transfer switch) is used to switch from battery power to grid power if battery power is insufficient.
A lot of people on this site are in the construction industry. Please do not spout opinions and act like they are facts.
Knowing what something can do and when you should use it are two different things.
All buildings with generators have an ATS. Which is every large office building in CLT.
I applaud all the people in the construction industry on this site. If anyone would like to share some facts please do, they are more than welcome to.
If your going to call me out on something at least state what was said that you don’t agree with because we can’t have a discussion that generalizes everything.
I’m willing to learn, and that is a fact.

Two things.
The Curtainwall on DEC accentuates the cantilever more than it would by itself.
The geometry of a shorter building allows for a more drastic looking cantilever. If this building did that it would hit the Ally building besides breaking the laws of physics with its structure.
