Looking at old pics of Norfolk is depressing
I feel like it's just best to not even talk about it because.....wow....just wow

The Navy has been pimping Norfolk since it's beginnings in the area.
It's like, exactly how a pimp keeps a woman from knowing her true potential by telling her she'd be nothing without him....this is insanely crippling

Am I the only one on this entire board that suspects that all the "kinda urban" development or the lack thereof is actually deliberate?
Like...I believe the city officials know that urban growth leads to hope and individualism and considering how many military installations are in the area and the idea that many of the people in the area serve the armed forces in some way, I would think the last thing any community in the 7 cities would want to do is encourage individualism. The military is all about being agreeable and basically, soldiers. Ever think about how personal capitalism would go against that in their eyes???
Seriously! No one else thinks it's suspicious how bad so many of the decisions are?????????
I can't be the only one who sees this
On the other hand....

Both the Pamunkey Tribe and the Nansemond Tribe are Federally recognized and are not properly referred to as “so-called” Tribes. It is my understanding that the dispute is about the geographic area to which each tribe is indigenous. We know they are both indigenous to what is now Virginia, but the Nansemond seem to be claiming that the area which the Pamunkey themselves claimed as their area of influence (to which they are indigenous) did not include Norfolk. I believe Norfolk does fall into the areas of influence claimed by the Nansemond Tribe. This dispute will be settled within tribal courts rather than federal courts.
FWIW, I hope this issue can be settled, because as many others have stated, the Nansemond Tribe didn’t appear to be interested in pursuing a casino.
I have no reason to recognize the said tribes by any name assumed by either group. Especially considering my own indigenous roots in these said areas.
I hope things work out too. The fact that any "blocking" is happening now that a tribe is interested in a casino on some land is precious, at best

As I read the article, when the Pamunkey tribe applied for federal recognition, they listed the areas where the tribe lived, farmed, and hunted. Apparently, according to the Nansemond tribe's letter, they did not list any areas in the 7 cities. It doesn't help that the previous chief of the Pamunkey tribe called the claim that Norfolk is ancestral Pamunkey land "a long stretch."
If I may, on what grounds does the said challenging group (Nansemond Tribe) have to question or contest any, I repeat ANY claim an indigenous group has to the lands their so-called tribe occupied? Why should any number of peoples respect the challenge a tribe has made to dispute the livelihood through casinos that the Pamunkey Tribe would benefit from? I'm curious...

I'm curious to know exactly what evidence ANY ingenious tribe holds to make a case against another tribe's longevity in the 7 cities...

The citizens of Norfolk will definitely vote this in. It seems like the only city in the 7 cities that actually LIKES things
