My pipe dream for UNCC (I shudder when I use that acronym, but that's another story) would be for retail at ground level and then either campus offices or dorms to be be built over top. I imagine the campus fostering better rates for independent restaurants and retailers to thrive on the ground level (not a big-box Target.). And over top --if not dorms or campus offices-- a small business incubator. The Charlotte Research Institute already has a huge hand in energy sector small businesses, so this would really be a no-brainer.

I go to WCU and they actually built a mixed used project a year ago. Retail on the bottom, dorms on top. Its got stuff like a coffee shop and convenience store, both of which are locally owned and operated. It turned out to be a really cool place. If little old Western can do it I don't see why UNC Charlotte couldn't.

If I was Harris Teeter I would stay in 4th Ward or along West Trade corridor to serve that end of uptown.  And it is possible the Tiny Teeter stays put and a full sized store is built elsewhere within the loop. What about the Lennar project?  Anyway exciting times in Uptown Charlotte for sure. And I predict you will see an urban format QuikTrip like the one they are doing in Atlanta's Midtown https://whatnowatlanta.com/quiktrip-to-bring-convenience-store-only-concept-to-midtown/

I was just in Midtown Atlanta the other day and saw the QT. That whole intersection is so cool, Charlotte could really use something like that
