I hope it's good news. Would love for someone to make the rabbit hole into a legit music venue like the neighborhood theater. We don't need more apartments going into that area especially with central square developement about to start....

I assume the city has to approve and pay for any type of mural/local art to be comissioned on city property but does the future central square development make it anymore likely that city may improve the lighting and potentially do something artistically on the pecan underpass connecting chantilly and pm? Thought it could be an interesting spot to make the pedestrian walk between the 2 neighborhoods a little more inviting and interesting.

New paint job happening today at the old 1510 Antiques spot. Sorry for the glare the sun is so low it is impossible to get good pictures right now. 

Looks pretty good finished. Looks similar to workmans friend.

Nothing like two giant parking garages next to a future light rail station. Wish they could also somehow get rid of the CVS and work that corner into the development. Though at this point I guess I will settle with anything that gets rid of the current parking lot. I also found this preliminary plan for the site.
 

In the picture it does look like the older buildings are gone.... I also was hoping they would keep them and redevelop them to be like a faneuil hall/ optimist hall type deal. Was the picture from the same article? Thanks!

Does anybody know what's going on with the plot of land of central in between the McDonalds and Midwood Country Club (the Resident Culture over flow lot)? It's been for sale forever but saw the old building roped off the other day with construction trucks around it. Wonder if it's been sold and they're getting ready to begin demo. Anybody have any information here?

Updated pictures on pathway and Little Italy parking lot. Any ideas on what the steel structure is? There are also two large steel beams on the Little Italy side as well. My pipe dream would be a raised pedestrian bridge but that is unlikely due to the newly installed crosswalk in such close proximity.

I believe some of those construction vehicles are actually being used across Central on the back side of pin house. I thought I read somewhere that they were going to put a little walking path along the Veterans branch of Briar Creek. I took a picture on my run today.

If that lot is finally being developed, I'll be interested to see what Resident Culture does for parking...

I was told by a leasing agent at the Julien off of Commonwealth that construction for a new Julien style apartment would begin next spring. 

Did they say where? Across the street?

Drove by today and the signage says Cilantro Noodle and Ocho Like are now hiring. I tried a quick google search of both and came up empty. Maybe someone else will have better luck.

Anyone know what is going in behind common market across from NC Red?

I asked a construction worker as I was walking by and he said half the space is going to be Korean or Thai and the other is going to be an ice cream shop. I thought I read earlier it was going to be a Mexican restaurant. Anyone know the scoop?

Yep. Owner of soul is expanding into those spaces. No sure if it is going to be part of soul or a separate bar/tapas place.

I’ve unfortunately heard that the building formerly occupied by the Junior League Wearhouse is going to be yet another smoke shop. Boo. 

The whole building? I thought they were dividing the building up into 3 different spaces? That stinks if true...
