Good recap of all the projects happening here. There is more going on that I knew of.

I had not walked down to Pendleton Street in a while. I was surprised to see how far along New Realm had gotten. However, at the same time, they don't appear to be building everything that I recall them proposing.
Am I misremembering, or perhaps they just haven't started on some elements of the project? It was also dark at the time that I was walking by.
They definitely didn't do all that was proposed and they're on the verge of opening soon. According to their Instagram they started the process of hiring in early March. Maybe the outdoor space will be built in "phase 2"?

I like it. I think it looks great coming down the Church St bridge.
I do too. The pictures I shared from UBJ article doesn't show it well. It looks better in person IMO. Maybe we'll get some high quality drone pics of it soon?

Groceries, pharmaceuticals, and gas would not be included in this tax.
My bad, I guess I was just remembering the last penny tax that was proposed. I still prefer this style of tax, small amounts, instead of larger sums.

I did a quick search and found the average American uses somewhere in between 600-800 gallons of gas each year. Sounds right to me. If we use those numbers, we would each get taxed about $6-8 a year. That's a good trade to get better roads and infrastructure. We get a lot of out of county folks coming here everyday for work and play that would probably fill up and contribute also. I hope it happens.

Not bad, a year and a half delay with the more than likely much longer delays on the horizon. Consider it dead or at least not in this decade.

This building appears to be getting close to completion. Will be interesting to watch office vacancy numbers post-opening.
You were correct.

Update: Demolition begins on old County Square
County Administrator Joe Kernell told council demolition of the old administrative building would begin as early as Nov. 8 or 9 starting on the end of the building closest to the new county administrative building along Church Street.
He said the work would likely conclude in January after EMS relocates to its new headquarters on Halton Road. Crews will try to minimize disruptions to public access to county offices.

From the minds of Ristorante Bergamo comes Bergamo West, a new deli, to the Village of West Greenville.
The team posted signs teasing the new eatery on Oct. 26, just below the former Village Studios and Gallery.

You're right - it was a typo that should have been end of 2023.
Thanks! I'm glad to hear the end of the year is still the target! I'm loving every one of these new trail connections.

From city council discussion - 9/11/2023
I missed the beginning, but here are some points -
- Legacy park connector: still in progress, target end 2024
- 3 additional neighborhood connectors along Laurens Rd 2023-2024
- Church St underpass improvement study (visibility, lighting) - 2023
- Cleveland Park pedestrian bridge - direct connection from Richland way tunnel to zoo parking lot (2024)
- Cancer Survivor Park full tread surface replacement - ongoing surface maintenance, aim for better surface lifetime and skid resistance.
- The county 'owns' / operates the trail segment below the Laurens St bridge. I'm surprised by that, but I don't know exactly what that means; perhaps maintenance? It seems to be patrolled by city officers now.
They talked about the long term goals of the trail network in the city. I was struck by how much things have changed since the early days when it seemed that only the hardcore trail users saw the potential to the way it is viewed by most people now.
Is the date for the Legacy Park connector correct? It was originally scheduled for completion in December 2023 according to the link that gman430 shared on July 22. I hope they're still on schedule for the earlier date.

The second phase of the Commons is well under construction but I've never seen renderings of what they're building. Has anyone seen anything that would show us what is getting built? Would this of went before the DRB?

Thank goodness this got straightened out! Now I can sleep at night....
