Reports from other Waze users shows that the detour instruction were issued too late - the escape exit had been reconfigured so that it was already passed when Waze tried to exit.
Dang that's a real bummer. Perfect storm situation.

I must have angered the travel gods with my criticism. I just endured a 4.5 hour drive from Charlotte to GVL because of a LONG backup.
I'm curious if you were using Waze?

Will it take another two decades to finish I85 construction between Greenville and Gaffney? Has their been a slower highway project in America?
I drive this almost weekly and it does seem like there are some sections where nothing happens for weeks and weeks. The entire stretch is a mess, but they seem to be only working on one small piece at a time. That being said...
From: SCDOT I-85 Widening Project ::FAQs
How long will it take?
Phase 2 (MM77-98) is expected to be completed by the end of 2024 and Phase 3 (MM98-106) was completed in December 2022.For updates... https://twitter.com/85widening

I assume that 5,000,000 is divided by the 100 companies that were mentioned in the article.

To what part of Main Street? I disagree on only one downtown station being necessary. You're not going to see people eager to walk over a mile from a location near Coffee Street to Fluor Field. A station in the North End, a City Center station, and a West End station would better serve our urban layout IMO.
This may be where the trolley comes into play.

Schwaben House is now open on Laurens Road — not sure how long they've been there, but I had assumed they closed the business after vacating the Pelham Road location.
It was discussed back in April on the "other" forum.

No parking garage? I missed that one. I guess they are running a little behind on site plan updates.

Just had a pretty good meal there during the holidays. Couldn't get in to Outback, Carolina Ale House, or Quaker Steak on a Saturday night but walked right in and sat down at Tavern 24. That should have told me something.

I think we need a Duck Dynasty store... it's the upscale riff raff that bother me.

Not a very "central" location for the parking deck.

Well said.

Seems like the Regal Cinemas / D and B area still has somewhat of a pedestrian friendly layout.
Question is what could be done to fix the rest of it.

I drive that way most weekends to visit family and I agree with you... progress is slow, and many sections seem to go months without progress. This construction method sucks.
That being said, there is a long stretch between Spartanburg and Gaffney that appears to be nearing completion with only cones keeping traffic out of the fast lane near the new center wall.
