Talking about loosing fares..
I was there in Charlotte for 2 weeks by the end of September and we took the Blue line to downtown charlotte. Can't remember which station we got in, but we couldn't figure out how to get the tickets for our journey. The machine did everything, but it didn't send the payment information to the card machine. There wasn't a single member of staff in the platform, so our conclusion was that the ticket machine was broken (The 2nd machine was off).
We tried until the train arrived. We had to take the train in fear of being caught and handed a penalty fee later in a different stop.
Coming from London, it's really weird if you can get away without paying the fares. And also, I'm used to staff in the stations in case any problem arises, people can always get an answer or guide.

Edit: I forgot how to make the image visible in this forum. Tried different options but none worked.

That logo would be better in the reception, not there. Looks silly.

everything you see in the Duke Energy Center building is office or retail space all parking underground dittos for the Museum tower. It has to be one of Charlotte's deepest parking garages I can't remember how many levels it goes down but it is a lot. Their new tower is all office with the parking garage in the rear attached.
I'm impressed by that, but good to know!!!

This reminds me to The Shard and the "News" building in London Bridge:
Obviously, the one in London is not a Parking Deck.. I guess that one right next to DUKE building is for Parking, isn't it?

I do get some info about AA but what I have heard for new routes is mostly Philadelphia related. In terms of CLT, the main I keep hearing is third daily London, AA is sitting on a slot at Heathrow; other ones I hear are leisure destinations, I hear whispers of Prague occasionally but I would guess that is wishful thinking.
CLT-London??
Around how much for the cheapest tickets on this flight? .. I booked for September, but going through NY first, as I always do.

The coffee I got a Pret in Heathrow was the worst coffee I think I have ever paid for! I know the English like their tea best but this was gross.
Yeah their coffee isn't great, but so is Starbuck's and similar high street chains. If you're looking for a good coffee, go to your local coffee shop.
Anyway, they offer open spaces, toilets, free wifi and whatnot that can save anyone on a rush. Hopefully, they open more shops in Charlotte.

Pret... meh!
They're everywhere here in London, but I wouldn't spend my money in there, unless you like to eat fridge-temperature sandwiches.
Is this the only store they have in Charlotte?

I'm laughing at the fact you all found 2 out of thousand window panels being slightly different in this building. This forum is priceless.

Had to reread this one

They could go to one of those lovely cigar bars.
My dad would love it, but something more teenager-oriented will do the treat. I may end up getting them the tickets for the Baseball game. I forgot to mention she recently had an operation so she can't do any jump/run/scream activity for a few months.

I am sure others will have better suggestions but these leap to mind:
Start the day with breakfast at Yolk
Next, wander down College to MLK Blvd. across to the NASCAR Hall of Fame or down Tryon St. to The Bechtler Museum of Modern Art
Then grab a quick bite for lunch at Fuel Pizza followed by dessert at Amélie’s Uptown
After that, head to the US National Whitewater Center for an afternoon of outdoor fun (grab a quick shower)
Finish the evening with a nice dinner at Dressler's RestaurantYou don't want to know how I schlepped my kids through your fair city. Suffice it to say we got our money's worth out of The London Pass.
Thanks for this. I've been living in London for about 4 years now and I still don't know 20% of the city. It's just too big.

They could go to lunch at Benny Pennello's for Charlotte's largest slice of pizza, then walk up the street to PopBar which has amazing frozen gelatto on a stick, dipped and topped. Lenny Boy brewing if your parents are into beer, and your sister can get a flight of kombucha. McGill Rose Garden on N Davidson just north of uptown is pretty amazing (but they often close for private weddings, etc.) and Birdsong Brewing is right next door. Long shot but if they dig old-school arcade games and pinball in a semi-scary-but-harmless setting, Abari game bar is good to hit right when they open if you have minors with you. RocketFizz is a throwback candy store right in uptown, and a trip to either the Hornets or Panthers team shop is always fun.
Thanks. This seems like a plan I can do when I go back to Charlotte in September.

Hey folks. My sister is turning 15 today and I'd like to giver her and my parents a nice day out in Charlotte, but google isn't helping me much. Since I don't live there I figured you could help me find an activity they can do maybe over the weekend.
I've checked and there's two Knights game on Friday and Saturday, and prices aren't bad when I change to GBP(£). That's an option that sounds viable.
I know about Carowinds, but they've been there and my dad isn't much of a rollercoaster guy.
Any ideas?

Good point, you all.
I missed the part that they did/are/will tear down a historic building. In that case that's a shame. But still hold the opinion that I like the project.

This is the kind of project that pops up in different parts of non-central London. I really like it and I believe it is a nice infill for Charlotte.

This forum is normally friendly. But some users are bringing a negative vibe. Luckily enough they're just a few and are predictable.
This is the best forum I've ever read as there are plenty of debates and good arguments that makes you change your perspective, but then you come across comments like the one before me, ugh!

Cool project and fits well in SP.

Exactly. You just said it better than me. For the price of admission and the fun you get, it's worthy, but there's also room for improvement as we described.
Will I be back? .. Yes, every time I happen to be in Charlotte and the park is open I'll be enjoying the coasters.

Wow. I remember back in 2009, the pink building seemed so far away from uptown, and now it's wrapping up all together.
Sorry, I don't know the name of the buildings/streets

Speaking as a hopefully-soon-to-be web developer, the design and animations on that website are really interesting.
I wonder if it was developed by folks in NC (the website).
