  1. Looks like Columbus Park is expanding by 500,000 sq. ft. of new retail/restaurant space. Any rumors of what might be coming outside of what the paper mentioned?

Knew it was only a matter of time before they developed this and after reading the article I can make a few educated guesses at what will be coming. Of course Gander Mountain will open and will be the first in Georgia. I know this development was originally meant to include many higher end stores that Montgomery now has at The Shoppes at Eastchase. Montgomery's size is very similar to Columbus so Columbus has a good shot at landing these.

    1. Gander Mountain 2. Costco 3. Chipotle Mexican Grill 4. DSW 5. Banana Republic 6. Williams Sonoma or Pottery Barn 7. Ann Taylor 8. Ted's Montana Grill 9. White House/Black Market 10. HomeGoods 11. Which Wich

Things I would like to see but highly doubt will land here.

    1. Belk 2. Cheesecake Factory 3. P.F. Chang's 4. Macaroni Grill 5. California Pizza Kitchen 6. Caribou Coffee 7. J. Jill 8. J. Crew 9. Restoration Hardware 10. Sephora 11. Orvis 12. Trade Joes

According to Adams Brokerage Co. it will be the end of the year before any tenants are named.

  2. Whatever happened with Super Target? That was supposed to happen in that area a few years ago. I also keep hearing that there might be a Cheesecake Factory coming here. Anyone else hear this? I think it would do very well. Restaurants seem to thrive in Columbus.

It is highly unlikely that we will get a Super Target in the forseeable future simply because there is not enough land in North Columbus near Veterans and other major arteries to build one. And of course South Columbus would never land one. The Cheesecake Factory will not be coming anytime soon either simply because this chain almost always opens in a higher end lifestyle center such as The Summit in Birmingham. The only hint at one has been from the manager at Peachtree Mall saying he is trying to land one during his tenior there. We shall see.

  3. Read today where Von Maur is opening their second location in Atlanta and one in Birmingham. Both opening later this year. I really believe Columbus has a good shot at landing Von Maur as it is similar to the former Parisians. The president has said they are in expanding mode and if General Growth Properties is wise they will court this potential tenant for Peachtree Mall. What do you all think?

  4. the land at the intersection of moon and whittlesley is going to be a new car dealership. It will be home to Kia autosport of Columbus. They have outgrown the midtown location.

On a seperate note construction has started on the old hobby lobby store on airport thruway n e idea what is going there

I've always thought a Burlington Coat Factory would go great there

  5. I can announce a 1 new development for Columbus... North Columbus will be getting a Dollar Tree located next to Fresh Market at Bradley Park Drive, leaving around 4,000sqft left for development.

Blackmon Corners is coming long too on the corner of Warm Springs Road and Blackmon Road, U SAVE IT pharmacy is coming and it also looks like some type of cleaners as well as a childcare center, nothing exciting.

Any word on what's going to locate at Lakeside Village in Midland?

  6. I've heard alot of rumors lately that would blow the pants of some of you guys... all I can say right now is, if they are true, this is going to put Midland on the map as far as Columbus retail and restaurants go-- more retail than restaurants. I'm going to try and confirm before sharing.

O yea do share as soon as you can!

  7. They put that building up fast! Any word on anything else coming to that area?

Not sure of specific stores but an opening from bidclerk.com states a site in Midland Ga is expected to begin construction Sept 2011. The only mixed use developement like this I know of is near Beaver Creek where the new Chik Fil A is going. Exciting News.

  8. But see that's just the thing. Walmart and Target sell a wide variety of things. 1 floor would be dedicated to non-grocery items, and the other would accommodate all grocery items. Which still make them single floor grocery stores. It's just not reasonable (or marketable) to facilitate a two or three story grocery store or a section that spans between two floors. It would be hell having to go up and down floors making sure I covered everything on my grocery list. All the while my milk is "sweating", frozen dinners are thawing, yogurt turning to cheese.

I emailed Leo Weiner of Glenwood Properties, company who owns the Cross Country Plaza, and he emailed back a few hrs later stating the new Publix will be only one story. Hope this doesnt burst anyones bubble.

  9. Yeah... I'm going to just go on ahead and say that that is highly unlikely. Imagine having to go upstairs to look for milk and eggs and downstairs if you want bread, rice, and cereal? That isn't a very reasonable layout for a grocery store - no matter how large it is.

If indeed it is two stories... then that second floor would probably house operations offices for all five Publix in Columbus. That's the only reason I can see them having two floors. Other than that, at it's height in the diagrams, we can assume it has fairly high ceilings for lighting and signage just like every other modern grocery store.

I agree. It is doubtful that the second floor will be dedicated to groceries because if you look at the picture of the Publix, the second floor has no windows meaning either it is not two stories after all or the second floor is dedicated to office space etc.

  10. A few things here...

They're still working on the land for Bonefish but it looks like Verizon will be moved to an almost 9,000 sq/ft space over there and another open space which would be great for somewhere like Five Guys.

Flournoy Properties has started on their first full development here in Columbus on Williams Rd called Highland Ridge, http://flournoycompa...D=19862&Sent=GO

Also, HomeCorp has started on their very large (tall atleast) development on North Veterans Parkway

"Front Porch of the South" (Flea Market) has applied for a $10k building permit and has started transforming the old Sunfresh Beverages plant into a very big flea market and event center. I guess much how the River Mill started out as.

Also, W.C. Bradley has applied for a building permit for the old Hughes Supply on Veterans Park, not sure what this is about - maybe a warehouse?

    That's all for now...

What is this HomeCorp development? Havent noticed it. Where is it on Veterans? Thanks for posting this info!

  11. Ledger Enquirer has announced in the paper and online that the new Chik Fil A is going in this development and is set to open in May with Truett Cathy's, Chik Fil A's founder, grandson operating the store! Cant wait to see what else is developed here. This has great potential.

I'm not sure about the Jacoby Development but I know that the last I heard Woodruff was developing a from-the-ground-up version of The Landings called The Village at Beaver Run. The first of those announced was a rumored Chick-fil-A. The development is going to include apartments in the back and commercial in the front-- just like the Knooce's Place development in North Columbus.

  12. Woodruff is pumping out all kinds of developments... I wouldn't hold my breath until they start moving dirt but, here is another Bever Run/Psalmond Road development in partnership with HighGrove Partners.

I beileve I know where this is but is this the site across from Rite Aid and Beaver Run subdivsion or the one about 3 miles down on the right?
