I included the link from the rezoning in 2013, when the process for this really began.  I don't think Dollar Tree had any intentions of leaving Chesapeake, but they had to get those sweet tax dollars.

Also of note, there's an Aldi planned across the street at the corner of Volvo and Executive.

Dollar Tree employee here. Yesterday, Dollar Tree announced it is laying off 370 people in Matthews, NC, from the Family Dollar team. We all knew Sasser had no intentions of leaving Chesapeake, plus our campus is a lot newer than the FD campus.

From what little I saw in the rendering, building looked to be about 20 stories, which is tall for Chesapeake.  Now if we could just get light rail to this new town center...

I take that back. Article says 12 floors, but rendering has way more than that. May just be artistic license.

All of the announcements I've seen say 12 floors, but I'll keep an eye/ear out for any other news.

A few of us employees who are not involved in the project are walking the property today at lunch to try to figure out where the frontage for this will be. We've been seeing survey crews around the site for the last few months marking everywhere from our central courtyard to the distribution center truck parking lot, but we suspect this expansion will have Volvo frontage in the wooded area on the corner of Volvo and Executive.
