  1. I think that's gonna have a surprisingly large effect in improving the look and vibe of downtown. FYI the parking area beside the old depot is the only place that I know of downtown where the old cobblestone streets are still visible.
  2. That's what I'm thinking as well. If this couldn't get built when interest rates were close to 0% I question the chances of it happening now, but I'd like to be surprised.
  3. I've heard that in six months they're going to extend the start date another six months.
  4. "Could be coming in like 15 years" would probably be more accurate, but it's good that's it's actually being discussed now.
  5. I mean, given time, Greensboro will probably annex most or all of the areas in (non highlighted) green but that's probably a century out if it ever happens.
  6. Honestly a nice mid-rise floor for Greensboro would look really nice, but I've always been one who favors a dense skyline rather than a tall one.
  7. Greensboro grew by about 1900 people, and Winston and High Point by about 400. Durham grew by 2800 which puts it on a pace to potentially pass Greensboro is about a decade.
  8. I mean I agree, but I don't know if there's anywhere in the US where land like this wouldn't be used for a suburban style development.
  9. Very presumptuous to assume this will ever get built based on the track record for this land thus far.
  10. After the issues with this project and the whole South Elm redevelopment debacle I've lost all faith in the city government's ability to do just about anything downtown.
  11. I really feel like downtown High Point is weirdly cursed by having the Furniture Market. On one hand it keeps everything occupied and maintained as furniture showrooms , but on the other it means there's almost no space for restaurants and stores.
  12. The redevelopment commision needs to be seriously looked at if this is the best they can do after 17 years and millions of dollars.
