  1. 95% of homeless people are not homeless because they don't have a home.  They are homeless because of other issues.  They are either mentally ill or addicted to drugs.  Until they open back up the mental hospitals and they are put where they can be taken care of.  We will continue to have this issue.  There are several places that will help homeless drug addicts and that's where they should be sent for help.  They should not be allowed to take over a tax payer funded park and beautiful library.

  2. Most of the homeless people are mentally ill.  There is no "teaching them to fish".  They need to be put in schismatic facilities like in the past for there own safety and care.   The next group of homeless are drug attics that can be helped with the right programs.  There are very few that are just on hard times.  Those type are temporarily homeless but usually get back on their feet on their own.  Regardless, they should not be allowed to harass people and take over public spaces so nobody else can use it.  Until they bring back the mental hospitals to lock up many of them the homeless problem will continue to exist.

  3. One problem with Murfreesboro's square is the proliferation of law office that take up all the street level retail spaces.  It's hard to build any synergy downtown when there is little retail/restaurant space available because of all the law offices.  That being said, things are slowly changing more reseraunts and retail  are  pushing there way in.  The old neighborhoods are also improving with lots of renovations and infill as well.

Yeah, but hopefully we get unique asian restaurants like the ones in Dallas, and Atl.

Or at least more of a variety of different types of hot pot restaurants and korean bbq.   For example:

[The breakers (there's one in ATL , Dallas, etc.) , Iron age, Honey Pig  "Korean self serve BBQ" ]

Or an chinese/korean bakery like "Sweet hut or Mozart" (Sweet hut is located in ATL and Mozart in Dallas)

Or asian style tea cafe's like Kung fu tea(mostly east coast and most major cities), and tea house( Located in Houston).

Or Kura a japanese style/owned revolving sushi restaurant.

I do notice that they're starting to introduce unique restaurants in Murfreesboro like Saibadee(Thai/viet/Lao food), Top one Rolled ice cream (thai rolled ice cream, and coffee fusion (which has  pho, viet style subs, and a mini asian bakery).  If you guys ever want to try something new  those places are pretty good. They're off medical center. I think Murfreesboro might end up looking like korea town in Carrollton, TX  and  Gwinnet county in ATL.  Clarksville has a bunch of korean restaurants and self serve bbq places too but it's a little out there.

Pho Viet just opened up on the Boro on South Rutherford Blvd if you like Vietnamese food and then there is Cup Pop Korean BBQ near MTSU that is really good too.

Another article in the Tennessean on the deferral.

    From the article

"Last month Metro Council passed an ordinance that would make it more difficult to get a special exception for height in areas within the Downtown Code district, including Buckingham's proposed Gulch project site"

This is first I have heard of this.  I can't believe they are actually making it harder to build taller downtown.  Could we be anymore backward?
