  1. I've heard from a couple of sources that due to the death of a primary investor of 55 West as well as some other financial difficulties, that 55 West is going to be refunding deposits and moving forward as apartments. This doesn't sound logical to me, so I need someone to confirm to deny these rumors. If true, this is going to leave a lot of people scrambling this far into construction.

So, is this a joke or is this refunding of deposits for real?

Who was this primary 55W investor that died?

  2. Has anyone noticed that some units for 55WEST have increased recently in square footage on their site. At least the EOLA and Phillips models have by about 50 sqft. I think this is the first time that I have seen that a builder is adding instead of subtracting after what is stated in initial contracts.

  3. I don't know if you mean March for topping off, but I read that the devleoper already said he expected construction to finish around September of 2008.

  4. I keep reading ads on craigslist of people saying that they just want their money back (deposit), and selling for purchase price. What is that all about? Is there something wrong with this building or is it just because of the bad market?

  5. If you look back at some of the postings from a couple of weeks ago there is a realtor website that has many "1BRs" (more like studios to me) for less than 300k.

  6. Am I missing something here? Looking at all the floorplans for the 1BRs they all look like studios to me. None of them have a door, they all have a partial wall. There are only doors for the 2 BRs.

  7. Things are moving along for 55W

    Downtown parking

As of Monday, Aug. 1, those who are used to parking in the Market Garage at 60 W. Pine Street will have to find a new place to stash their cars while working and playing downtown.

The popular 380-car garage is closing during construction of 55 West on the Esplanade, which will include a new 1,000-space parking garage.

Fear not, though -- the city of Orlando is offering alternate parking in 12 lots and garages throughout downtown for $1 per hour.
