  1. Colonial Williamsburg Puts Carter's Grove on the Block for $20m

The Colonial Williamsburg Foundation is selling Carter's Grove Plantation for an expected $20m. The article in the New York Times below raises important questions about the precedent being set by both CW and the National Trust for Historic Preservation in allowing the sale. Colonial Williamsburg has spent big $$$ trying to update their exhibits to make them appeal to a younger genewration. The results are mixed so far, but their decision may have far-reaching effects upon the future of house museums throughout the country. In a declining tourism market, only the toughest will survive. It would be nice to think that a new owner would make the house and grounds available to the public, but this is not likely to happen. The house and grounds are expected to go on the market in January, 2008.

  2. There are really only two vineyards in New Kent... one I cant remember the name (and I do believe it is the one you are thinking of) and the other is Farms of New Kent.

I am new to this forum.

I wan't sure if this ever got answered. The development includes Viniterra http://www.viniterra.com/ There are vineyards scattered throughout the development. They have already sold building 40+ lots for $200k-$500k (wow)

As an FYI I understand there is a Walmart being built at exit 211 of I 64 in New Kent very close to Viniterra.
