  1. Does anyone know exactly where the Life is Good store relocated to? I noticed the "we've moved" signs in the windows while driving by yesterday, but didn't have time to stop for more information.

The signs in the windows say they have relocated to Appalachian Outfitters on Orchard Park Drive. I think that there is an ownership connection between the two.

  2. Haven't seen anyone report this. Walked by Munchies last night and they were carrying out the candy racks. The store was pretty well gutted out. :(

Spill the Beans is fully moved to their new location. We stopped in... it looks great! ... tastes good too! They should do very well here.

  3. Looks like the last retail space in the bottom floor of The Bookends has been upfitted for a retail store. The interior looks great. Walking by tonight I noticed they had started to merchandise the store. Some good contemporary crystal brands (Orrefors and Kosta Boda). No sign announcing what the store name will be. Anyone know?

It's "The Perfect Gift" - a high end gift shop (as I understand it).

Grand Opening Celebration Thursday, May 8 (4 - 8 p.m.); Friday, May 9 (5 - 9 p.m.); and Saturday, May 10 (10 a.m. - 6 p.m.). Looks like Thursday and Friday may be invitation only (we received RSVP invitations for those nights). Donations from the proceeds of sales (10%) will go to various charities: Thursday - Special Olympics Greenville; Friday - Greenville Humane Society; and Saturday - The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.

  4. The O-Cha "Opening Soon" sign is back :yahoo: at the Hampton Inn at Reverplace (where the candy shop used to be)! Stoped by and talked with one of the owners (Mallie sp?) today. She said they were planning to open around February 1 (but lots of interior work still to do). Much less expensive space (with a lot more visibility) and they had some of the equipment left from their prior location.

  5. Main at McBee - Project is on hold for now because they could not obtain enough office tenants. There is some activity on the site now, but I wonder if it is a staging area for The Peacock Hotel and Spa. I'm hoping for a redesign with a little more height.

Activity on site is a result of the fact that, as you suspected, it is a staging area for The Peacock Hotel.

  6. There was no sign of any sign when I went by there Saturday evening as well. Was the sign in the storefront on the left or the one on the right? It looks as though some other confectionary/ice cream type store is going in the one on the right, judging by the shelving and refrigerated case. As for the storefront on the left, it appears that some plumbing work has begun there, so I suspect that's the one where the O-Cha sign was?

It was the one on the left (facing Hampton Inn from the river). The O-Cha sign was propted up in the window when we went by on Thursday but it was gone on Saturday afternoon.

  7. If this is the location I think it is, then I feel that they'll do MUCH better here. The visibility they'll have in this area alone - especially during the warm months when parents have their kids down at the fountain to cool off and want to cool off with a nice bubble tea or slush themselves. This will work out quite well for O-Cha, I have no doubt.

  8. According to the latest from O-Cha, the new location will be in the West End. Look for more details soon and look for a grand re-opening after Christmas. Hopefully it won't be too cold outside for bubble tea.

My wife and I were walking downtown last night. O-Cha had an "Opening Soon" sign in a vacant space of the lower left corner of the Hampton Inn (facing the fountain along the river).
