Still being run by the same folks, are there chances that the food and service will improve?
-
I don't think Pizza Uno deserves it's own thread, as Im not surprised that it closed. But, didn't see a better place to post this. Anyway, Pizza Uno on the College St side of Three Wachovia is closed. I saw them taking the signs down last Monday.
I hadn't eaten there in quite a while but heard complaints from bad service to bad food.
It's sad to see another Uptown loss and hope something else fills the space quickly.

Not sure if this has been posted elsewhere:
Dandelion Market is scheduled to open in the former Latorre's Restaurant on 5th in December. It's next to Fiji.
Walked by yesterday, they have scaffolding out front for renovations.

Noticed some activity on the UNCC site. Good riddance to another surface parking lot

It's been reported that Atlanta-based Novare is in default on loans for a number of its projects in the southeast... Catalyst being one of them. This really doesn't have much effect on Catalayst since its done, but it pretty much kills any notion that they will build TWELVE. Just hope they can at least lay some nice sod and a tree or two in its place. They have already been removed as operating development partner on the 440 S Church St office tower.
There's a similar article in today's Charlotte Business Journal

InitialD, Thank you for posting all the aerial shots! Excellent!

I had several family members call me to tell me that Jim Cantore on The Weather Channel was reporting live from Charlotte on March 1 covering the snow storm. I don't know if it was "Charlotte" or "Charlotte, North Carolina" but either way, Charlotte got come love from TWC.
I saw it, don't remember if they used NC or not. Jim was somewhere along 85 and did several snow updates over an hour or so.

To be honest, I'm just excited that 20 acres of surface parking lots will eventually be extinguished. Although I care what is there, the city will be potentially transformed and the neighborhood of 1st Ward will be better served. His plans have changed much but I do look forward to the mixed use of options on the land- including retail, hotel, residential, and office space with a large mix of midrise and a few highrises. We'll see how much will be developed in the immediate as development has slowed across the region greatly. A bulldozer on urban pavement is a start, though, but this has been dragged on so long, it's truly going to take "I'll believe it when I see it".
Agreed

Mo, Thanks for clarifying

Any updates on this meeting?!?
The meeting was good, unfortunately turnout was low.
The main focus was on community brainstorming rather than feedback or comments on current plans. So it was a great opportunity to have your suggestions heard.
After introductions a consultant gave an idea presentation. Then participants divided up into 6 groups (the four wards, South End and a Center City Group) to brain storm and present their ideas with the entire group.
I saw a few good ideas, nothing exceptionally startling.
I believe the next meeting will be in Oct with opportunity to discuss and comment on the plans.

6th & Pine.
28202 - You're right 6th & Pine, current location of Park Plaza.

Going through a box of old photos found the following. May not be all that difficult, but anyone want to guess where this is?
Clues: Uptown, taken in 1998, the street light and fire hydrant are still there.

Mo,
Awsome photo, that's definitely one of the best I've seen taken from that angel

Have you seen this article in the Globe and News? (Canadian news)
“Charlotte: The town that Bank of America took down”
http://www.theglobea...article1400134/
It’s interesting in regard to the writer’s perspective. However, like in all cases the media wants to make it sound like the game is over and all Charlotteans should just give up and disappear.
In my opinion, Charlotte’s future will be based not on the companies we can attract, but the ones we can build.
