Very very nice with the snow. Why must I be down in Florida, we had tornadoes early this morning, the FedEx plane lokks stuning in contrast to the white snow, very good job.

Bojangles... there was one years ago in front of the the original Wal-Mart (now MAC). I think the building is actually a Mexican restaurant now. Man they had some good biscuits. Oh, and a Krispy Kreme right near the new hotel and mall. That would be sweeeeet!
That was actually a Albertson's grocery store, the original Wal-Mart was attached to the Stones River Mall, the old Dilliard's to be exact. Bojangles is thriving down here in Jacksonville,FL

Interesting. I wonder what Mr. Palmer's response would be upon seeing that.
And at the same time, Marina City Center is still listed as proposed. WES will get built, at least the IC Hotel and Summit Condominium Tower, now the office tower, it all depends on who the anchor tenant will be.

Looks like Southwest is testing out a new market for BNA non-stop. They have been sending a flight to Norfolk, Virginia on Saturdays with the return on Sunday morning. They have been doing this for some time now. I am under the assumption that it may become their 29th non-stop destination from here soon. That would be a great new destination considering all the military ties in this area and the emergence of that market on the national scene. WN is slowly connecting the dots here in Nashville.....
It would be a plus for me. Lots of Navy people in Norfolk use SWA to travel to Jacksonville, New Orleans, and other Navy cities. It would definetly be a plus for Nashville.

WKRN Channel 2, on tonight's 10:00pm news, reports that Signature passed its 3rd and final reading in Council tonight. They also report a new groundbreaking date of July 1st.
Here's the Link to that story :Channel 2 News
Fantastic news, but this pushing back, sounds quite familiar. I say no more.

Was it just me, or was there a Banana Republic sign on one of the stores in the lifestyle center in that video? I would be SO excited if we got a Banana Republic in Murfreesboro! I can't imagine that they would put that on the video if they didn't already know they were getting it.
Yes there is, I was just waiting for someone else to spot that. The Avenues will probably contain your Coll Springs like stores, but with SRM, it might get more exclusive clientel, hopefully thats the case.
-
Thanks for the history lesson, MurfRez! That is interesting indeed. So, just to press a little further on this issue, did the building ever open as a Wal-Mart? And if so was it attached to the mall as such? That would be an unusual Wal-Mart.
Yes it opened as a Wal-Mart and oddly, it was connected to the mall, you got me. But of course they relocated down the street.
-
Thanks for that.....That would've always been blocked and I'd have missed it. I also meant to tell you Relient...that the Dillard's there was built as a Wal-Mart in the late 80s.....since you're not from here i thought you'd find that interesting. Castner-Knott remodeled it and Dillard's bought them 2 years after they opened.
I remember that back in the day, I think SRM has made just a smidge of progress, you think?

The Stones River Mall website has a new video of what's to come. It pops up in an extra window, so don't close the window. The interior is going to die for when completed.
Ishould've elaborated more. Tuscan-inspired interior decor. Sweeping high ceilings and Italian tile floors and plush furniture and kids play areas. The food court is going to be impressive, they are possibly removing they're removing the center court fountain. The renderings are very very pleasing to the eye, and it partly reminds me of the Cheescake Factory building in Green Hills. Build up yall, I can't wait to come home.

Like I said all this bickering between city and county can be solved by merging into a Metropolitan style government. They're gunna get annexed at some point, so just shut up and get over it, I understand their stance, but its going to happen regardless of if, but when

shows what I know. I didn't even know Wachovia was in TN.
The only reason why they are here is because they bought SouthTrust. They are expanding in the Nashville market. Look around town and I'm sure you'll see several signs stating financing by Wachovia. They are mainly the Eastern Seaboard market, but expanding to the whole South now with the SouthTrust acquisition completed. There is still hope for this project, its still floping like a fish on a dry dock.
Here's hoping Palmer is successful with Wachovia. It would be a great location with tremendous exposure for them in Nashville. Besides, I've always thought WES is the best looking project proposed in Nashville.Exactly, with Southtrust and First Union bought, they got their signage on two prominent downtown Jacksonville buildings, Riverplace Tower and Wachovia Center, so they have excellent exposure from The I-95 Fuller Warren Bridge, Main St. and Acosta Bridges.

This frankly is the damn dumbest way I have ever heard in history to stop growth. Putting an end to growth for a specific period of time is the best way for Rutherford County to ruin it's chances of growing in the national spotlight. This brings up the issue of Metro style government, yall read this from the Daily News Journal

And still, it seems that Alex Palmer can't find a tenant for his building.
I've heard he's in talks with Wachovia. Their current TN operations building near the arcade is too small now, so they are lookin to expand, it would be a lofty location. Look at Charlotte, we know Wachovia loves lofty, spacious buildings.

so the 3rd and final reading is tonight or is it at a later date. I've been busy with the Navy this week so I am almost clueless to what has happened the past few days.

Y'all, he's either referring to Atlanta's airport (likely), or he's kidding and making fun of Nashville's....he doesn't mean we'll be to 120mm by 2020.
PS I saw a letter to the editor last week from somebody complaining that we're putting in local restaurants in the airport instead of national chains. His reasoning was that if we want to be like a big city, we need big-city chains....right, great plan there.
i agree. Apparently this, frankly, JERK, doesnt realize how much we really enjoy our hometown restaraunts. I think it is a brilliant idea, most airports dont have something like that
-
The airport is behind schedule, but it's pushing ahead. Capacity will be up to 120MM by 2020.
Airtran used to be ValuJet. Jetblue is another airline started from scratch.
oh stupid me. maybe u mean 12mil, probably a typo.
-
oh yeah that was for like American Eagle or something, its looks like its not airport offices or something, if you closely enough from gate C-21.I am probably the slowest person ever, I just found out today JetBlue used to be ValueJet . Anyways, when will our airport start having regular 747 passenger jet service because of Atlanta's outta control expansion controversy

Hey guys, great news! I'm working inside the terminal now at Enterprise Rent-A-Car. I'll be reporting any news regarding events/updates with anything related to BNA! With Lexy and friends reporting takeoffs and landings outside the terminal and myself reporting events and updates inside the terminal, we'll have wall to wall coverage on one of the best airports in the country.
Unfortunately, I don't have access past the security checkpoints, but at this point the common areas of the terminal still seem to be status quo as far as the rennovations are concerned.
collest, now we have even more insider info, literally insider, terminal inside

There was an accident yesterday at The Avenue construction site involving a scaffold collapsing. Seven workers were injured, some seriously. Here's the DNJ's account of what happened:
http://www.dnj.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?A.../612300319/1002
I'll keep those workers in my prayers.
crap happens, they'll be fine though. its part of doing big construction.

I believe the last report I saw on the Crown was 31 stories and 420+ feet. Correct me if I'm wrong.
nope, your correct.
-
oh yeah, Encore is between 3rd and 4th, cool, hopefully its sheethed in shiny metal and glass, it'd be pretty cool, kinda of like The Plaza in downtown Orlando, very pretty and extremely refelctive, if you look at it when the sun shines just right, itll blind you.

Lots of midrise on the drawing boards... Here's just a sample of the Rolling Mill Hill development in SoBro, adjacent to the Sounds complex.
http://tennessean.com/apps/pbcs.dll/articl...4/1197/COUNTY01
And a computer generated rendering of the RMH project in this link...

and the project link...

And SBE&R will put up a 12 story office building at the corner of Gateway and Second. So that's about 3 buildings planned over 20 stories and about 5 midrise from 8-15 stories of residential/office/or hotel just south of Broadway in the Gateway area (about 8 square blocks). There's the Hampton with is 6 stories at the corner of GW and 4th.
wouldnt that office building be behind Encore?

Alright, Christmas is over and how many of you used the airport? If you did, how was the experience and what were the renovations looking like? I don't know how much can be "seen" yet, but I believe that most of the renovations will start ramping up now that the passenger numbers return to pre-Christmas levels. We should expect some major attention to be given to the busiest concourse in the airport, that being concourse C. Restaurants, paint, skylights, and a host of other things are on taop for it!
I used it, SWA, go cheapness. They have torn up some carpet at the end of the Concourse, that was the only really noticable thing besides colored tape every damn where, and the floors are unstable, so they have signs posted to watch your step. It wasnt too terribly busy on the 26th when I left to come back to JAX, unlike yesterday, oops. Things apparently went very smoothly with all the renovations just starting anyways.

I agree, Air Canada, how appropraite, from TN north for the next several days, we just need twisted airlines or something tornado related. Sad situation, but welcome to an El Nino winter.
