  1. Does anyone know the status of final design and groundbreaking? What do you think of the current design?

The design looks pretty cool to me I hate that it will break the srteet grid I wish it could go up instead but over all it's cool. Where will it be located it would look cool on government ?

  2. I'm actually in favor of an open park in this location. I am STRONGLY in favor of added residential in downtown Mobile, and encourage developers at any given opportunity to develop residential downtown, but in this location I feel a Mardi Gras themed park would be invaluable in the future. Redevelopment of downtown is imminent, and there are plenty of blighted properties that the city doesn't own that can be developed for condo use. The development of a condo would benefit Mobile greatly in the short term and possibly further spur downtown redevelopment, but 20-25 years from now when we see 10's of thousands of residents downtown and land to develop scarce, open space will be at a premium. Plus, this location is right along parade route A and would be the location for many civic events such as Mardi Gras, Bayfest concerts, and other events that would benefit the city as a whole. I believe the Civic center location would be much more fitting for a condo redevelopment rather than this central downtown location.

I agree with you the civic center site would be nice along with a town center type of retail

  3. The Orange Grove community takes up such a huge chunk of land and that whole community can be deleloped into anything but what will they do about the souronding area ? which is full of addicts and prostitutes .So thw whole area would need a face lift not just Orange Grove ! and that would cost a lot of money to do so . I wish tah ta developer would change the orange grove community into what Mobiles old fort conde village use to look like . It use to be just like NO `s french quarter but it's half a century older that would be a nice development for that area. It could have residency, retailshops, parks etc.

  4. I say let the the developers build the gateway condos down on waterstreet north of the rsa tower! It would look good on I-165 SOUTH! And the apalachee would look nice where that ugly parking area is downtown, behind Grand Central and Boo Radlys
  5. Good news for Alabama's Gulf Coast andt the state of Alabama : The developement site for the 75 k seat Motorsports park arena will be announced by the end of this month !!! Just about every one who lives on that coastal region supports this good news for the State of Alabama .

  6. They are alright. I'm not a fan of the McMansion architecture and I don't think it was efficient use of the property.

Personally I would have wrapped a much larger building around the tree and pulled it closer to the street to match the surrounding street scape.

There is also a office building for sale adjacent to the Taco Bell with an iron gate. That is a perfect location and building for a condo conversion.

  7. ohhh ok , another huge condo development ,Mardi gras themed park i'm eager to see how this is going to shape up . On Gov St There is a condo development that can easily be unnoticed , but it looks like Brown stones ,the type of apartment housing in NYC it's located between the Taco Bell area and the mansion that line the street on the right side going west bound . Does anyone know the name of these brown stones well if thats what they are

  8. Does any one know when will they start builing on the proposed new Federal Court House bldg ?I have seen a pic of it 3 yrs ago and the architecture was stunning and had a futuristic look to it ,as in 40 yrs ahead of its time .

  9. Exactly... and hence you see the problems. Point proven. Fortunately for metro Birmingham there is an anchor city in Birmingham. The Alabama coast has no central anchor. It's part of the Mobile area in theory, but has more towers than Mobile by far.

the Alabama Gulfcoast region rarely ever get support from B-ham
