  1. Not suprising. The project is pretty much dead and has been for sometime now. Did the signs say which company was selling the site? They are definitely new.

The site is being sold by the Furman Company. Sorry for the slow response...

  2. I was driving by the Gateway site this evening and noticed "for sale" signs on the green wall at the East North Street/Church Street intersection. Not sure if these signs have been here for awhile, but I assume the most recent proposed project is "officially" dead??

  3. Appears to be a good bit of clearing going on for a fairly sizeable project just up (away from downtown) from the proposed Phoenix Center location. Anyone heard anything about this? This area of Wade Hampton Blvd is in desparate need of a quality new development as it is a gateway into downtown. Maybe this could spur additional positive development? I apologize if this has been discussed elsewhere...

  4. Not sure if this has been discussed in this thread or a different one, but does anyone know what's going on with the old Travel Inn (Lodge) on Wade Hampton that was shut down by the city? I noticed that the site is now "Under Contract". Hopefully it will be torn down and transformed into something else, but I have a sneaky suspision it's going to come back as another motel <_< . This area of Wade Hampton, coming into town, has so much potential but is a major eyesore right now.

  5. The triangle there between Wade Hampton, Stone, and Column St is about 3 acres. In between Column St, and Church St, the same developer owns another 5+/- acres. In the middle of this 5 acre plot, there used to be a road that the city still owns that I am assuming was Earle St Ext. I think this is what the city will abandon. They may abandon Column St which splits the 2 properties, because it doesn't seem to be too useful.

I truly hope that Column Street doesn't get abandoned...I use it every day to get from Wade Hampton to Stone Ave South. Just imagine a well thought-out pedestrian bridge connecting the two parcels of land that Column Street splits. On my way to work this morning I noticed flagging and several stakes on the larger parcel. Anyone know of a new development? It appears to be associated with a structure survey or maybe even pre construction geotechnical borings. I hope that whatever it is, it is attractive and taller than 2 stories. This is the Gateway to the City for people traveling into town on Wade Hampton Blvd. :)

  6. I'm really hoping something nice happens to this corner at Stone and Main. I live a few blocks away and pass this eyesore daily. On Tuesday I noticed one of those PODS containers at the vacant lot next to the old gas station...but it came and went. What a great spot for a Bloom, Publix, Trader Joes, etc.! I tired of having to go to the Bi-Lo on Pleasantburg or Ingles at Cherrydale. We need a full service grocery store in this area.

I've been noticing a little more action at the vacant lot located at Stone and Main. Anyone have a clue as to what is going on here? :dontknow:

  7. OK I didn't know, I was curious because all of the buildings that belong to

Town Gate LLC, are now vacant.

  8. ^^^Read the comment i'm talking about at the bottom of this article discussing this announcement: http://www.greenvilleonline.com/apps/pbcs....INESS/702090331 Does Caterpillar have anything here? Remember all the billboards along Interstate 85 promoting them. Hmmm.

Since there is a new Caterpillar plant just off I-26 in Newberry County (Exit 76 I believe), I wonder if they really would be interested in expanding two counties to the north??? Why not expand where there is plenty of land and where they already have a large industrial presence? I was truly hoping that this announcement had something to do with Michelin and their billion+ $$ contract that they were recently awarded for military vehicles and aircraft. Hmmmm...maybe we will still see something from this??? 2007 could be a good year...

  9. Everyone hold onto your hats and take a seat. This rumor is by far the most awesome yet! :yahoo:

Rolls-Royce is looking at several locations in Southern states for its new global center. South Carolina is one of the states on the list. I have heard that CU-ICAR would be the most logical choice in this state for them to locate and could give us a lift over the other locations. This is in no way a final deal, but it sure does sound phenomenal! The company does far more than just build luxury cars. :w00t:

Very interesting. I was in Charleston for the weekend, and a few of my contacts down there seem to think that they are the leader for the Rolls-Royce center. Hope that's not the case <_< , but I suppose as long as it ends up in SC it would benefit us all.
