These new nonstops couldn’t have come at a better time. My family was already planning a trip to Alberta this summer. Definitely going to take advantage of that Calgary flight.

Anyone have any idea what Jason Thomas is hinting at on Instagram. Is the announcement of renovations imminent?
What is the post in question?

Yea the cost to remove that rock is excessive. I remember when they were building the Wachovia HQ/Duke Energy Center back in the late 2000s they had to do a lot of blasting to remove all the rock. Took a good while to do that.

Annnnd this is why I don’t gamble. It’s to built a major tennis facility to host the Western and Southern open starting in 2026. Huge potential economic impact. Facility to be located in the River District.

Charlotte constantly being mentioned as a relo or expansion option continues to be intriguing considering there is no plan for a ballpark or prospective ownership group. I don’t see Tepper jumping on that. Jordan could if he does follow through with selling his majority share of the Hornets. But do we really want him running another franchise the way he has with them? I wouldn’t want that. I could maybe see a group of NASCAR drivers/team owners or maybe one of the other CEO’s of our F500 companies in town bringing a group together. But that hasn’t happened. Feels like it’s more of a talking point for the media than anything else right now.

^Well before the building boom started in Southend/Dilworth, and there was limited options compared to today, Fuel was one of our staples for late night or post hangover pizza. Agreed, it never changed. Sometimes there's nothing wrong with that.

Looks like Fuel Pizza abruptly closed because of rising rent... Wonder what's next? Going out on a limb and say it's another residential or mixed use high rise since two are already under construction near by.

Gezzz, if you want to feel better about David Tepper as an owner take 20 minutes to read this -in depth- catalog of Dan Snyder’s misdeeds in Washington.
There are Piece of Sheet owners, then there is Dan Snyder... Dude takes the cake.

LOL....Finebaum is a radio personality that says things to get callers worked up. End of story.
Sorry but an owner doesn't coach, set line ups, sign or trade players, or get a team ready. He signs the checks. He might sign off on big personnel moves but he isn't out there scouring the waiver wire. This is 100% on Rhule. The only bad thing Tepper did here is keep Rhule after the finish of last season. We all saw Rhule wasn't cut out for it. Tepper wanted to give him one more season, which ended up a mistake, but got the axe early enough to not poison this team any more.
Wilks isn't going to turn this team around mid-year but I am 100% confident he is going to get the Rhule stink off them, which is at least a step in the right direction. He will coach these guys like men and hold them accountable like they should be.
100% accurate. The only thing Finebaum is interested in is social media clicks and getting whomever else talking or wound up so they have a segment on ESPN to talk about X issues. That's it.
Regarding Rhule, he'll get a college job somewhere next season (early favorite is Nebraska is my guess). He's a college coach. Obviously wasn't cut out for the NFL. I'm wishing Wilks the best and hope he can find a way to restore order but don't be surprised if another NFL coordinator gets the gig for 2023 (DeMeco Ryans, Ken Dorsey, Shane Steichen, etc.). I know a lot of the talk is Sean Payton, but I find it hard to believe the Saints would part with him since he's under contract still without asking for the farm in return.

Those heights don't make sense on 42 stories of Apartment.... unless the 42 stories incorporates the 9 floors of parking.
The apartment tower is supposed to be 45 stories. Office will be 42 stories (and taller height wise given that it's office obviously). I doubt the apartment tower goes much higher than 500' if it all depending on the parking... The museum tower is 43 stories and 455' (I think)

Centene recently backed out of a rather large expansion in their home in St Louis. They also started to divest some of their European businesses as well. When I saw those things, I started to wonder what may happen here. Something about this company just reeks to me now.. but sucks for sure... At least there will be brand spanking new large office space for someone else to come in and grab.

How about Charlotte and Raleigh boosters just learn to co-exist with one another and realize both metros offer very positive things to the NC economy and image? The narrative that one is superior to the other on this board has become so F'ing exhausting...

In terms of housing prices Wake's median house price is $490,000 vs $385,000 in Durham County. Wake county is much bigger and more expensive. Durham county is much smaller physically than Wake too so there is more room for SF homes all over Wake.
Charlotte Mecklenburg builds thousands of apartments but much less SF homes. Apartments are usually 1-2 people and homes are 3-4 people. Obviously not true on every situation but this is in general. Meck housing prices are higher than most surrounding counties and the quality of public schools in Meck county is good but great like in the surrounding counties. For example I know of 2 couples that moved from Brooklyn last year. One without kids moved into Charlotte. Other couple with kids moved to Cabarrus County. So this was 2 for Meck and 4 people for Cabarrus. This is repeated over and over.
I know several friends from NOVA/MD area that have moved down to York county for all those reasons, as opposed to Mecklenburg. Most of their jobs are in Meck County, but what York offers in terms of schools and housing are much more appealing for families. Heck, just drive across the border near 521 and 160 in York county and you'll see countless new subdivisions under construction for that very reason. Fully expect that trend to continue over the next decade given the available land. But like everywhere else, that new money from up north and out west is driving up the cost of housing.

Under normal circumstances, one would think something bad off the field had to happen with a coach who is exceeding expectations for a 1st year expansion franchise that's on the fringe of the playoffs. I'd like to think that was the case here, since there should be no other reason but I'm not holding my breathe. And yet Rhule is still somehow employed.

Yeah its pretty much a generic club unless you go early on saturday or during the week...Club RC otherwise. Really lost everything that gave RC its identity, but $$ speak loudest
100% agreed... They chased the money and it's hard to blame them either. I'm much more of an OG location fan of RC as well.

So when I look at the renderings I have 2 immediate thoughts:
- Man I really wish they'd made this a new terminal with ticket counters and security
- That hike all the way to the end will suck! That even LOOKS really far just in the rendering. I know there won't really be people connecting from the end of the A expansion to E but could you imagine doing that?
Definitely agree on ticket counters and security for the new A expansion. Just got another reminder today with the long security lines (thank god for TSA Pre). Though, hopefully some of that is alleviated once the Terminal expansion is completed.

I really loathe these lists... I just don't see how San Fran is a desirable enough place to live to make the top 10. Same with San Jose. Love to visit SF, but no way I could live there. Nor anyone I know. One of the pre-reqs is "Good value". There is no good value there lol

I watched the Tepper presser. Nothing about what he said was surprising. I'd even say it was expected. He was never going to talk about the Rock Hill facility, no matter how many different ways the reporters were going to ask him. Whether he's looking at making the current location work or put it on hold until he finds another nearby location, he wasn't going to lay his cards out on the table. Quite frankly, I'm fine with Rock Hill and Tepper not having a public p1ssing match over the situation any more than what's occurred. I get what he said about the field turf and why it was put in. I'm not a fan of it either, but you certainly run the risk of deteriorating a natural surface with overuse with soccer and football plus the other events now at the stadium. Too bad they don't have a way to swap out the surface like some of the newer stadiums can do (see AZ and Las Vegas). Then again I'm also not a field maintenance professional either. Will be interesting to see what happens when that stadium feasibility study comes in... The comments about Rhule and Darnold are lip service. We all know that. He's not going to trash them in public.

Looks like York County is now ready to talk about restarting the project and leaving Rock Hill out of the negotiations... At this point, it's probably a good thing: https://www.bizjournals.com/charlotte/news/2022/04/19/carolina-panthers-hq-rock-hill-agreement-end-new.html?cx_testId=6&cx_testVariant=cx_1&cx_artPos=1#cxrecs_s

Correct. Which is actually a good thing. Always thought they were one of the biggest wastes of space in the arena. Especially when it came to concerts.
