Someone on Reddit is reporting that it looks like J. Crew is closing at the Promenade.  Coincidentally, I just bought some things there a few weeks ago, and it seemed fine then.  I'm a bit surprised, given the recent buzz of new openings at the center by new managing realtors Newmark Moses Tucker (Sephora, Urban Outfitters, etc).  Seems like a VERY odd time to close 1-1/2 weeks before Christmas.

    That was me :)

when I was in there Wednesday they had small signs saying their last day was Jan 24.

They did file for bankruptcy earlier this year and seem to have come out of it. I think their focus will be more online and catalog for now though it seems.

It's unlikely that Costco will ever be able to break into Arkansas.  Wal-Mart would likely be able to, as they have for so many years, stave off the effort to Costco or any similar competitor to move into home territory.

More of a chance here in LR where we have Target, Whole Foods, Kroger Market place, and (all but announced) Trader Joe’s. That being said, I’ll believe it when it opens.

    NWA it would never happen.

  3. I saw signs today that Coldwater Creek is closing. Not a good sign, and evidence - in my opinion - that this center is both too remote and too small to be successful in the long run. It needs an anchor tenant (Dillard's or Macys).

An Anchor would be nice, but Coldwater Creek is closing nationwide.  So it may not be a direct reference to the remoteness of this center.  Park Plaza location is closing as well.

  4. Rumor is J. Crew could open as early as tomorrow (9/20/11). Not sure how accurate that date is, but I will say the store looked very close to opening on Saturday. I would bet any day in the next 1-2 weeks and it should be open.

Also the center looked great this weekend. I went by to see the J. Crew progress and finally drop by the Apple store. It was way larger and nicer than I expected we would get!

  5. According to reports in the Democrat-Gazette and Arkansas Times, it's a restaurant called Seoul, so it's assumed to be Korean. They've applied for a liquor permit.

I found this article on Seoul.

Sounds interesting, but I wish Satellite had made it through the renovation attempt. I loved their brunch on the weekends. Thankfully, The House in Hillcrest has filled that void somewhat.
