  1. My summer job between high school and college was at the Meijer gas station at 28th and Kalamazoo. The story I was told (although my memory may be distorted, as this was a long time ago) was that the Meijer bought the existing gas station, perhaps because they wanted the land for employee parking for the main store. When they discovered it was a money maker, they added gas stations to their other locations.

Sweet, that would have been an interesting gas station to work at. I worked at a Meijer gas in Kalamazoo for 2 years while I went to school at Western. This was the Mejiers right on westnedge. I worked 3rd shift so I was locked away inside and waited on people thru the bullet proof glass. Ahhh, memories....

  2. AFAIK they have had one in the Rivertown - Grandville Meijer for about a month now.

The Rivertown - Grandville Meijer does not have a gas station.

I am pretty sure the 54th and Clyde Park Meijer is the only one to have an E85 pump right now.

  3. Not sure if anyone has mentioned this or not but has anyone seen that the Meijer on 54th and Clyde Park(Wyoming) has put in an E85 pump? They actually shutdown the gas station for weeks in order to put it in place. I think Meijer putting in an E85 pump is very important because this is the biggest business in GR to do this so far. And if you do a search you will only find a handful of E85 stations within 100 miles of GR. If all the Meijers follow suit and install E85 pumps then that may help dictate how soon E85 becomes mainstream. My hats off to Meijers!!!!!!

  4. I've only been to one Wal Mart supercenter and wasn't impressed with it either.

I try to avoid Walmarts. I like to support Meijers since they are the local company. Meijer returns money to this community, I've never heard of Walmart doing anything for this community. Heck, I've never even seen a softball team sponsored by Walmart. And I try to avoid Sam's Club as much as possible too since they are part of Walmart.
