- Atlanta-based Lane Company and Nashville’s Double A Development will turn the former Bank of America site at 800 Main St. into a 330-unit residential complex grounded by 25,000 square feet of retail.

- The new building, called 800 Main, will feature first-floor retail space fronting Main Street topped by three floors of rental units ranging from 577-1,300 square feet. The units are priced at about $1.45 a square foot.

- $45 million apartment and retail project at 800 Main St. in East Nashville.
- This is Lane Co.'s first project in Nashville. The firm builds and manages multi-family communities.
- Lane and Double A expect to start construction by next spring and have the large mid-rise apartment complex completed by mid-2010.
- They're exploring LEED certification for the project, which will have a pool for renters that overlooks downtown.
- Developers envision on-street retail offering services and restaurants for the 300-plus residents above. The design has apartments built around courtyards, some with balconies with a retro "800 Main" sign on top.
- Double A Development bought the site, a former Bank of America processing center, for $3 million in early May.
- They expect rents to range from about $830 a month to $1,800 a month for one and two bedroom units.
- Looney Ricks Kiss are the architects for the project.
